Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian music producer and singer. The early work of her is classified as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4] with influences from hip-hop, electronic and rock. The majority of her songs focus on sci-fi themes and feminist topics. The singer has recorded five albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver and later moved to Montreal. She began her independent career in the latter part of the early 2000s. In 2010 she debuted two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. The following year, she became a member of 4AD and gained notoriety after the release of her third studio album, Visions, in 2012. Visions has two singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" that earned her the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. [5] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received high praise from critics as several publications called it the top album of 2015. In the year 2020, she released Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes is also a judge in Alter Ego, a music contest. Grimes was also a participant in the Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
